Advertising Policy

Advertising helps fund our independent journalism. This policy explains what advertising we accept, how it is labelled, and the strict separation we maintain between commercial and editorial operations.

Editorial Independence

Advertising revenue does not influence our editorial decisions. Advertisers cannot request, prevent, or shape our news coverage. Our editorial team operates completely independently of our commercial team.

No advertiser has ever been given editorial influence, and none ever will be.

Labelling of Advertising

All paid advertising and commercially sponsored content is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent journalism. Labels include:

  • "Advertisement" or "Ad" for display advertising
  • "Sponsored Content" or "Paid Partnership" for branded content
  • "Promoted" for boosted commercial listings

We do not publish native advertising that is designed to look like editorial content without clear labelling.

Advertising We Do Not Accept

Spain in English does not accept advertising that:

  • Promotes illegal products or services
  • Contains misleading or deceptive claims
  • Is targeted at children in an inappropriate manner
  • Promotes hate speech, discrimination, or political extremism
  • Conflicts with our editorial standards or values

Sponsored Content

We occasionally publish sponsored content produced in partnership with advertisers. This content is produced separately from our newsroom and is always clearly marked. It does not represent the editorial views of Spain in English.
